Advanced
Diploma in Health Science (Naturopathy);
Practitioner Diplomas in Nutrition and
Herbal Medicine; Accredited member of The
Australian Natural Therapists Association
(ANTA); Cert. Massage (Malvern School of
Massage and Kinesiology); Cert. Permaculture;
Assoc. Dip. Welfare; I began my work with people after finishing my study in the field of welfare. Most of my experience was with troubled young people and their families with the aim, where possible, toward reconciliation. Before long I was given the opportunity of voluntary work with disadvantaged aboriginal people in Perth. Here my concern with injustices; and the plight of the genuinely disadvantaged intensified. I wanted to learn more about real causes of difficulties and what is required for positive change. From here after working in Welfare for 14years the natural next step for me was to begin studies in Natural Medicine. I am sure that much of my orientation in natural medicine came from my mother who had a strong affinity and knowledge of the natural world. Her Italian culture was one that demanded quality always and if she thought she was being "ripped off" she was very quick to claim her right. From this she nurtured my sense for spirituality in my searching for what really matters, satisfies, makes a difference and is worth its weight in gold. My concern for the environment and my love of creation was very strongly influenced by her and can be illustrated in this true story: There was a time when, after I had done as much as I could in nursing and injured bird, my mother assured me that if I placed the infant bird in the garden, it would not be long before the little cries would be heard by the rest of its community and they would come and feed and nurture it. Reluctant to leave the bird, I was amazed to see this happen exactly as mum assured me. Maree Santamaria Maree studied Naturopathy at the Melbourne College of Natural Medicine and holds a Advanced Diploma in Health Science (Naturopathy) and Practitioner Diplomas in Nutrition and Herbal Medicine. She is accredited as a member of The Australian Natural Therapists Association (ANTA), which makes possible rebates from a number of Health Funds. Maree is a dedicated Naturopath and Counsellor with a deep commitment to the health and wellbeing of her clients. With extensive experience in the Welfare field, Maree has assisted people of different ages & backgrounds in rediscovering their capacities to rise to their truer potential. Maree recognizes that there are many phases in people’s lives which make them how they are and how they live at a given time. She works from the premise that, with the appropriate time and circumstances, one can confidently and freely move into a better way of being and living. As seen in her previous and current studies, Maree has a keen interest in the connection between body, mind, spirit and environment. |
