Home | Classes | Teachers | Seminars | Retreats | Consultations | Links Rev. Dr. John Dupuche Fr John is Parish Priest of Beaumaris and Black Rock in the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne. He lectured for many years in theology at what is now Australian Catholic University, heading its Religious Education Department at Christ College. He leads meditation groups and conducts retreat in addition to his normal parish duties.
His doctoral studies were completed in Sanskrit in the field of Kashmir Shaivism, which flourished in Medieval India. His book: Abhinavagupta: the Kula Ritual as elaborated in chapter 29 of the Tantraloka was published in 2003. His book, Jesus, the Mantra of God, was published at the end of 2005. He travels each year to India.
He is currently chair of the Catholic Interfaith Committee and is much involved in inter-faith dialogue in Melbourne; a member of the Living Faiths and Community Relations Commission of the Victorian Council of Churches; an Honorary Research Associate of the Centre for Studies in Religion and Theology at Monash University and Honorary Visiting Research Fellow in the Institute for the Advancement of Research at Australian Catholic University. He is the contact person for French-speaking Catholics in Melbourne and co-ordinator of a School of Prayer.
He has established an interfaith household together with Swami Sannyasananda, a yogi of the Satyananda lineage, and the Venerable Lobsang Tendar, a Buddhist Gyuto monk from Tibet / Dharamsala.
