History
It all started started in June, 1990 as a simple newsletter to service the needs of the various practitioners of the Satyananda style of yoga in Australia and New Zealand, after the first national Celebration of Yoga at Lottah in North Eastern Tasmania. The gathering of yogis from all over Australia was unique and provided an important milestone in the history of Yoga in Australia. Girikarmi then began a simple mailing list to help people keep in touch with others around the country by posting out a couple of A4 sheets of hand typed news and letters every two months. The workload eventually became too much for her and she passed on the task to Samnyasanand in 1993 who continued the work of keeping Yoga Links going every two months, with a few hiccups here and there, and which eventually became the 20 page magazine with photos, articles, news, stories and contributions from different places and various counties - from people all over the world.

Yoga Links magazine

Yoga Links used to publish a bi-monthly magazine about yoga, practitioners and centres in Australia and throughout the world. It is no longer published but was posted to more than 21 countries around the globe with six issues every year.

Even though the magazine has ceased to be published, the website has continued in various incarnations and still focuses on spiritual development through personal sadhana (yoga practices), holistic healing, asana and associated bodywork, tantra, ayurveda and meditation. We also explore Yoga Therapy and related bio-medical research as well as stories about events and yoga centres in different parts of the world, and write about people who embody the Yogic philosophy in their everyday lives.

 Yoga Links website

YogaLinks.net is a resource and information service about yoga for all those who practise, teach, study, research, write about, or live yoga in any way. YogaLinks is a free service to all with information and networking on all aspects of yoga.

It is small now but will eventually grow as people, such as yourself, contribute articles, stories and information to help bring yoga to everyone who needs it.

The focus is primarily on spiritual development through personal sadhana (yoga practices), holistic healing, asana and associated bodywork, tantra, ayurveda and meditation. We also explore Yoga Therapy and related bio-medical research as well as stories about events and yoga centres in different parts of the world, and write about people who embody the Yogic philosophy in their everyday lives.
